Community Safety and Disaster Management Advisory Forum, A Step Towards a Safer Future.

Ngqushwa Local Municipality held its quarterly Community Safety Advisory Forum at Ncumisa Kondlo Indoor Sports Centre with the aim to address the pressing safety issues affecting the community and to come up with practical solutions to improve the health, safety, and security of the community.

The forum is a connecting structure comprised of key stakeholders; namely Ngqushwa Councillors, SAPS, Amathole District Municipality Safety Unit, Department of Community Safety, Department of Transport (Transport Safety Unit), Advisory Centre’s, NGO’s, Peddie Community Policing Forum (CPF), Funeral Undertakers, Community Development Workers and Moral Regeneration Movement who are working together to identify challenges, formulate clear and alternative solutions to enhance community safety.

In today’s highlights, the forum presented their quarterly progress reports, disccussed challenges and the importance of safety measures in relation to issues of young children who do not attend school, abandoned houses in “Power” that they want the municipality to intervene for rehoming and also progress to date on the the registration of spaza shops across Ngqushwa villages.

The measures they put in place are to support and facilitate their integration for effective functioning that will do away with criminal elements in society and bring essential services closer to the people.

They ensured that through unity and commitment to serve, they will continue to build a safer, healthier and more secure environment in Ngqushwa.
